Nelson Growables 2009

Nelson Growables 2009 exceeded the organisers expectations. There is a growing trend towards growing vegetables and tending gardens.  People of all ages are realising the health and nutritional benefits and satisfaction of growing their own fruit, vegetables, and flowers, not to mention the, often unnoticeable, benefits of the physical activity. Growables hit the spot; perfect timing.  One of the objectives of Growables is to inspire and encourage that growing interest.  Another is to provide an affordable self-sustaining garden focussed community event.

Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who was involved in Growables 2009.  We provided the setting, you provided the show, and together we made it a fantastic day.  We can now consider Growables as imprinted on the Nelson events calendar.

Event manager Glenda Buschl says, “We underestimated the success of this year.  However, the support that came from many sectors has engendered sufficient confidence to continue with the event, albeit to carefully manage the growth.  There are some wonderful ideas coming forward on how to make it an even better experience for participants next year.”
